...and look at other programs/utilities along the lines of what you plan as being a project. Write lots of code, making your coding cohesive, eliminating any stray/unused modules. Then, when you're truly ready to begin that special project (would normally be a few years of hard work), ALWAYS look at the user interface from the users' perspective. You can easily see when programs are written strictly from the programmers point of view and a stage most have gone through.
